Due to extreme curiosity inspired by my Japanese translator’s comments in the previous post, I sought out this amazing Japanese animated short film on YouTube, and thought it was absolutely beautiful. So of course I have to share it here.

Beautiful and funny.
This reciting narration in a deep tune is Ro-kyoku.
I remember my grandfather who died when I was twelve. He had listened to the radio-Yose(theater), Rokyoku and Rakugo, in the summer evening when I was a little child. He had sat on the Endai(low wood platform) in the front yard, after taking a bath. He was wearing only a Fundoshi (loincloth), had a Uchiwa-fan in his hand flapping mosquitoes.
I asked him ” Ojichan, Omoshiroi (have fun)?”
And he said ” Yes, of course”
We almost all Japanese lived simple life, but in good old days.
Absolutely beautiful! I love the music. Thank you so much for sharing. Deb
